According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the total amount of steel imported by the United States in May was 2.513 million short tons, a decrease of 4.8% compared with the final quality in April. Among them, the import of semi-finished steel products decreased to 666000 short tons, a decrease of 31.9%, while the import of finished steel products increased to 1845000 short tons, a month on month increase of 11.3%.
Data from January to May: steel imports increased by 7.1% year on year, reaching 11.78 million short tons. Finished steel products were 7.966 million short tons, an increase of 8.8%. Hot rolled steel sheet, up 41.7% to 996000 short tons, the largest year-on-year growth.
The main sources of finished steel products in the first five months of the United States include: 1.052 million short tons imported from South Korea, a year-on-year increase of 12.2%; Imports from Japan were 403000 short tons, up 8.0% year on year; Imports from Turkey were 331000 short tons, up 12.7% year on year; Imports from Germany were 314000 short tons, up 5.5% year on year.
