The main differences between hot rolling and cold rolling steel plates are:
1.Appearance and surface quality: Because cold rolled steel plates are obtained after the cold rolling process of hot rolled steel plates, and some surface finishing is performed, the surface quality (such as surface roughness) of cold rolled steel plates is better than that of hot rolled steel plates. Therefore, if there are high requirements for coating quality such as subsequent coating of products, cold rolled steel plates are generally selected, while the other type of hot plate is divided into pickled plates and non pickled plates. Due to the normal metal color of pickling, the surface of pickled plates is still not as high as that of cold rolled plates, and there is usually an oxide layer on the surface of non pickled plates. Generally speaking, it's like being roasted by fire, and when stored in a bad environment, it usually carries a little rust.
2. Performance: Generally speaking, there is no difference in mechanical properties between hot and cold rolled steel plates in engineering. Although cold rolled steel plates have some work hardening during the cold rolling process (although there are strict requirements for mechanical properties, they need to be treated differently), the yield strength of cold rolled steel plates is generally slightly higher than that of hot rolled steel plates, and the surface hardness is also higher, depending on the degree of annealing of the cold rolled steel plates. However, the strength of annealed cold rolled steel plates is higher than that of hot rolled steel plates.
3. Molding effect: Since the performance of cold and hot rolled steel plates is basically not too poor, the factors affecting formability depend on the difference in surface quality. Due to the better surface quality of cold rolled steel plates, the molding effect of cold rolled steel plates is generally better than that of hot rolled steel plates.
