The grades of hydrogen sulfide resistant steel plates that undergo sulfide stress corrosion (SSCC) inspection are represented by SA516 Gr60 R-HIC, SA516 Gr65 R-HIC, and SA516 Gr70 R-HIC. To meet the different requirements of users and facilitate production management, the S and P requirements for steel grades are further divided into three levels: I, II, and III.
SA516 Gr60 HIC - I refers to the steel grade SA516 Gr60, and only hydrogen induced cracking inspection HIC is conducted for corrosion testing. The composition requirements for melting analysis are P ≤ 0.015 and S ≤ 0.003; Finished product analysis P ≤ 0.015, S ≤ 0.004.
SA516 Gr60 R-HIC - I refers to the steel grade SA516 Gr60, which is subjected to hydrogen induced cracking (HIC) and sulfide stress corrosion (SSCC) tests for corrosion testing. The composition requirements for melting analysis are P ≤ 0.015 and S ≤ 0.003; Finished product analysis P ≤ 0.015, S ≤ 0.004.
The size, shape, weight, and allowable deviation of SA516 Gr60 R-HIC steel plate should comply with the provisions of ASME SA20/SA20M.
The formula for calculating carbon equivalent (CE) of SA516 Gr60 R-HIC steel plate is as follows: CE=C+Mn/6+(Cr+Mo+V)/5+(Ni+Cu)/15
Steel plate thickness t≤38mm, CE ≤ 0.43%;
Steel plate thickness t>38-64mm, CE ≤ 0.45%;
Steel plate thickness t>64-102mm, CE ≤ 0.46%;
Steel plate thickness t>102-165mm, CE ≤ 0.48%
Smelting method of SA516 Gr60 R-HIC steel plate:
Smelting using an electric furnace and external refining method, it is essentially fine grain killed steel with an actual grain size of 5 or finer.
Delivery status of SA516 Gr60 R-HIC steel plate: Normalized.
