22SiMn2 steel plate is alloy structural steel. The carbon content of this kind of steel is generally about 0.25%-0.55%. For the structural parts with a given section size, if they are quenched along the section during quenching and tempering, the mechanical properties are good. If they are not quenched, and there is free ferrite in the microstructure, the toughness will be reduced. Steel with temper brittleness tendency, such as manganese steel, chromium steel, nickel-chromium steel, etc., shall be cooled quickly after tempering. The quenching critical diameter of such steels increases with the increase of grain size and alloying element content. For example, 40Cr and 35SiMn steels are about 30-40mm, while 40CrNiMo and 30CrNi2MoV steels are about 60-100mm. They are often used to manufacture structural parts such as shafts and connecting rods that bear large loads.

22SiMn2 steel plate shall be delivered in the heat treatment state of annealing, normalizing and tempering, or when agreed by the demander, the method of air blast or liquid quenching shall be adopted to accelerate cooling from the austenitizing temperature, and then tempering shall be carried out.
