For SA508-3 steel, the technology of "ladle refining+vacuum casting", namely, double vacuum smelting casting method, is widely used for smelting and casting. The main technological process is: EBT primary refining - LF refining - VD-VC, strictly control P, S, Cu, Sn, As, Sb, Co and other harmful elements by selecting the furnace charge, ensure the purity of steel, and reasonably control the steel medium/ratio.
In application, nuclear power SA508-3 steel will develop towards large size and thick wall in the future, and the new SA508-4N steel with higher toughness and hardenability will probably replace SA508-3 steel for engineering application.
