According to the statistics of the World Steel Association, in 2019, the global crude steel output reached 1869.9 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 3.4%, with three consecutive drops in year-on-year growth. In 2019, crude steel production in all regions except Asia and the Middle East declined year on year.
By country, the top 10 steel producers are China, India, Japan, the United States, Russia, South Korea, Germany, Turkey, Brazil and Iran. Compared with 2018, among the top 10 steel producing countries, South Korea surpassed Russia in the top 5 steel producing countries.
From the perspective of Asia, in 2019, the crude steel production in Asia was 1.341.6 billion tons, up 5.7% year on year. Among them, China's crude steel output is 996.3 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 8.3%, accounting for 53.3% of the global crude steel output from 50.9% in 2018; India's crude steel output is 112 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 1.8%; Japan's crude steel output is 99.3 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 4.8%; South Korea's crude steel output is 71.4 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 1.4%.
From the perspective of EU region, the crude steel output of EU in 2019 is 159.4 million tons, down 4.9% year on year. Among them, Germany's crude steel output is 39.7 million tons, down 6.5% year on year; Italy's crude steel output is 23.2 million tons, down 5.2% year on year; France's crude steel output is 14.5 million tons, down 6.1% year on year; Spain's crude steel output is 13.6 million tons, down 5.2% year on year.
