Application of 20MnV steel

The machinability of 20MnV steel is good, and the tendency for grain growth during carburization is small, but there is tempering brittleness during heat treatment. When 20MnV steel is used as carburizing steel, it can be directly quenched after carburization without the need for secondary quenching to improve the core structure, and can replace 20Cr and 20CrNi steel. 20MnV steel also has certain thermal strength and good weldability.

20MnV steel can be used in the temperature range of 450-475℃ to make welded structural components with high loads such as boilers, high-pressure vessels, and large high-pressure pipelines. In addition, it can also be used for cold drawn and stamped parts, such as piston pins, gears, etc.

20MnV steel is used for manufacturing mechanical parts that can withstand medium loads and speeds after quenching and tempering, such as steering knuckles, rear half shafts of automobiles, gears, shafts, worms, spline shafts, and top sleeves on machine tools; After quenching and medium temperature tempering, it is used to manufacture parts that can withstand high loads, impacts, and medium speed work, such as gears, spindles, oil pump rotors, sliders, collars, etc; After quenching and low-temperature tempering, it is used to manufacture parts that withstand heavy loads, have low impact and wear resistance, and have a solid thickness of less than 25mm on the cross-section, such as worms, spindles, shafts, collars, etc; After quenching and high-frequency surface quenching, it is used to manufacture parts with high surface hardness and wear resistance without significant impact, such as gears, sleeves, shafts, main shafts, crankshafts, mandrels, pins, connecting rods, screws, nuts, intake valves, etc.

In addition, 20MnV steel is also suitable for manufacturing various transmission parts that undergo carbon nitrogen infiltration treatment, such as gears and shafts with larger diameters and good low-temperature toughness. Used for manufacturing boilers, high-pressure vessels, large high-pressure pipelines, etc; It can be used as stamping steel, such as bicycle chains, piston pins, gears, etc; It can also be used to manufacture mining chains with a diameter of no more than 20mm.
