1. The difference in the production process of hot rolled and cold drawn seamless steel pipes:
Cold drawn seamless steel pipes: round pipe blank → heating → piercing → heading → annealing → pickling → oiling (copper plating) → multi-pass cold drawing (cold rolling) → blank pipe → heat treatment → straightening → hydrostatic test (Detection)→Marking→Warehousing.
Hot rolled seamless steel pipes: round pipe billet → heating → piercing → three-roll cross rolling, continuous rolling or extrusion → pipe removal → sizing (or reducing) → cooling → billet pipe → straightening → hydraulic test (or flaw detection) )→Marking→Warehousing.
2. The quality gap between the finished hot rolled and cold drawn seamless steel pipes:
The outer diameter of the hot rolled seamless steel pipe is not very standard, and the outer diameter will have a deviation of 50 wires. Because of the external mold of the cold drawn seamless steel pipe, the entire steel pipe will have a uniform outer diameter, with a deviation of about 20 wires. The seamless steel pipe produced by the hot rolling mill has serious side wall problems.
From the above process and quality comparison, it is not difficult to understand that hot rolled seamless steel pipes are generally cheaper than cold drawn seamless steel pipes.
