Why 42CrMo alloy pipe is not easy to rust

42CrMo alloy pipe has unique advantages, its surface is not easy to be oxidized, which is inseparable from the composition of 42CrMo alloy pipe. The 42CrMo alloy pipe relies on a very thin, solid and fine stable chromium rich oxide film (protective film) formed on its surface to prevent the oxygen atoms from continuing to infiltrate and oxidize, so as to obtain the ability of corrosion resistance.

Of course, 42CrMo alloy pipe also needs correct maintenance. The weak corrosion resistance part of chromium rich oxide film of 42CrMo alloy pipe will form point corrosion reaction due to self excitation reaction, produce small pores, dissolve into strong corrosive solution with close chloride ion, and speed up corrosion. In addition, the intergranular corrosion cracking in 42CrMo alloy pipe will destroy the oxide film on the surface of 42CrMo alloy pipe. Therefore, the surface of 42CrMo alloy pipe should be cleaned and maintained to extend the service life of 42CrMo alloy pipe.
