What’s the meaning of Q235 grade steel?

The latter number 235 refers to the yield value of this material, which is about 235 MPa. It will decrease its yield value as the thickness of the Q235 material increases (plate thickness / diameter ≤16mm, yield strength 235MPa; 16mm

Due to the moderate carbon content, the comprehensive performance is good, and the strength, plasticity, and welding properties are well matched, the Q235 steel plate is widely used. It consists of Q + number + quality grade symbol + deoxygenation method symbol. Its steel number is titled "Q", which represents the yield point of the steel. The following numbers represent the yield point value, and the unit is MPa. For example, Q235 represents a carbon structural steel with a yield stress (σs) of 235 MPa. If it is necessary, the symbol indicating quality grade and deoxidation method can be marked after the Q235 steel number ( like Q235A, Q235B, Q235C). The quality grade symbols are A, B, C, D. Symbols of deoxidation method: F means boiling steel; b means semi-killed steel: Z means killed steel; TZ means special killed steel. The symbols for killed steel can be omitted, that is, Z and TZ can be omitted. For example Q235-AF stands for Class A boiling steel. Special purpose carbon steel has bridge steel, marine steel, etc.
