What is the difference between 12Cr2Mo material and 12Cr1MoV steel?
Both 12Cr2Mo material and 12Cr1MoV steel belong to alloy structural steel, which can be distinguished only from their nomenclature. Their carbon content is the same as 0.12%, while the content of chromium is different, and the content of molybdenum is the same.
Here we compare 12Cr2Mo material with 12Cr1MoV steel in several aspects.
1. Chemical elements content:
Chemical composition of 12Cr2Mo material: C 0.08 - 0.15, Si ≤ 0.50, Mn 0.40 - 0.70, P ≤ 0.030, S ≤ 0.030, Cr 2.00 - 2.50, Mo 0.90 - 1.20, V without special limit.
Chemical composition of 12Cr1MoV steel: C 0.07- 0.15, Si 0.18- 0.37, Mn 0.41- 0.70, Cr 0.90- 1.20, Mo 0.25- 0.35, V 0.15- 0.30.
2. Comparison of mechanical properties:
12Cr2Mo material mechanical properties: tensile strength 450 - 600MPa, yield point 280 MPa, elongation 20%.
12Cr1MoV steel mechanical properties: tensile strength: ≥ 490 MPa, yield strength: ≥ 245MPa, elongation after fracture: ≥ 22%, reduction of area: ≥ 50%, impact energy: ≥ 71J.
12Cr2Mo material is a pearlite heat-resistant steel with hydrogen corrosion resistance, good high-temperature mechanical properties and temperature creep resistance, while 12Cr1MoV steel is used to manufacture superheated steel pipes, pipes, radiator tubes and related forgings in high-pressure equipment with working temperature no more than 570-585℃.
