DIN low alloy steel 28MnB5 plate is similar to Chinese Q345B low alloy steel and Japanese JIS structural steel SS490. 28MnB5 carbon content is about 0.28, and 0.05 boron is added at the same time. This is to maintain the low carbon content of iron while increasing its wear resistance. The effect of boron can make 28MnB5 steel have good hardenability, smaller crystalline particles and more difficult to peel off during wear. Therefore, the wear resistance of low alloy steel 28MnB5 is improved while maintaining high toughness, and its weldability is also improved.
