What are the welding types of large vertical storage tank

The tank body of large vertical storage tank is assembled and welded from steel plates one by one. There are several types of welding, such as shielded metal arc welding, submerged arc welding and gas electric vertical welding. Each type of welding has its own characteristics.

Shielded metal arc welding is a common welding method in life, in which the welder holds the electrode in one hand and the welding mask in the other. This is the most common welding method. The operation process and equipment of shielded metal arc welding are very simple. It has strong applicability. It can be used for welding all parts of the large vertical storage tank.

Submerged arc welding, its arc is buried under the flux, so it is named submerged arc welding, this welding method has no arc radiation, so there is no risk of drilling, and submerged arc welding is mostly automatic welding, so the welding efficiency is high. It is suitable for the welding of tank bottom plate and wall plate.

Gas electric vertical welding is a kind of GMAW, automatic welding, with high production efficiency. It is mainly used for longitudinal seam welding of large storage tank panel. Because the power of gas electric vertical welding is relatively high, it is not suitable for thin plate welding, which easily leads to large welding deformation.
