If the vertical seam welding is improperly operated, the welding torch group is not suitable for vertical storage tanks, and it is easy to cause defects such as surface slag inclusion, lack of fusion, incomplete welding on the back, and poor forming. Therefore, the following points should be paid attention to during the assembly and operation of the vertical storage tank.
1. The depth of the molten pool should be appropriate, and the distance between the gas supply port and the molten pool surface should be kept 510mm. This is because the spatter of carbon dioxide welding is very serious. When the distance is too close, the spatter is easy to block the pores, and when the distance is too far, the welding area is easy to invade the air and produce pores.
2. The extension length of the welding wire should be kept at 40-50mm. The rigidity of the flux-cored welding wire is poor, and it is too long and easy to bend, which often produces arc deviation, which makes the welding unstable.
3. The welding wire should be aligned with the position. The end of the welding wire should be placed in the middle of the groove, and the end should be 4-6mm away from the copper slider. Too close is easy to cause slag inclusion on the surface and burn the copper slider. If the surface is too far away, it is easy to fuse poorly. It is advisable for the welding wire to be away from the base metal so that the arc will not jump to the base metal. Pay attention to the formation of the weld bead during welding, and adjust the position and swing of the welding gun in time to make the welding wire in the best position.
4. When starting the arc in vertical seam welding, plug a group of glass wool into the welding bead at the lower end of the vertical seam 50mm as a support, and sprinkle some broken welding wire on it for arc ignition.
