The steel materials used for building civil or military ships are called shipbuilding steel. There are shipbuilding steel plate, profile, pipe, casting and forging, etc. But traditionally, shipbuilding steel only refers to the steel plate for ship hull, which can be divided into three categories: general strength shipbuilding steel plate, high strength shipbuilding steel plate and naval ship hull steel plate. What are the technical requirements for shipbuilding steel production?
① Requirements for strength. Higher strength can reduce the weight of the hull, reduce the welding workload and increase the bearing capacity. The use of high strength shipbuilding steel is restricted by the rigidity and corrosion resistance of ship hull.
② The hull line shape is more complex, there are many types of single curve or hyperboloid. Cold bending, hot bending and straightening should be adopted. The adaptability of steel to shipbuilding technology is required, including welding and repairing.
③ The requirements for plasticity and toughness are sufficient to compensate for the effects of work hardening and thermal cycling during construction. For the important parts such as the bow column, the part with the maximum longitudinal bending stress, the bottom and the side crack stop plate, it is required to have high crack resistance, low ductility brittle transition temperature and sufficient impact absorption energy at low temperature.
④ Seawater corrosion resistance.
