1. High intensity. The strength indexes of pipeline steel mainly include tensile strength and yield strength. At the same time, the yield strength ratio (yield strength to tensile strength ratio) of pipeline steel is also required, which is generally in the range of 0.85-0.93.
2. High impact toughness. Pipeline steel shall have enough high impact toughness (crack initiation and crack arrest toughness). For the base metal, when the toughness of the material meets the requirements of crack arrest, its toughness can also generally meet the requirements of crack prevention.
3. Low ductile brittle transition temperature. Severe regional and climatic conditions require pipeline steel to have sufficiently low ductile brittle transition temperature. The shear area of state D has become the main control index to prevent brittle failure of pipeline. The general specification requires that the fracture shear area of sample f at the minimum operating temperature shall not be less than 85%.
4. Excellent hydrogen induced cracking (HIC) and sulfide stress corrosion cracking (SSCC) resistance.
