High manganese steel is the choice of wear-resistant materials that require strong impact resistance and high pressure material wear. High manganese steel has the incomparable work hardening characteristics of other wear-resistant materials. Under the action of large impact load or contact stress, the surface hardness of steel plate increases rapidly from HB200 TO HB500. As a result, the surface layer with high wear resistance is produced, while the austenite inside the steel plate still maintains good impact toughness.
There are two characteristics of high manganese steel:
First, the greater the external impact load, the higher the wear resistance of its surface layer;
Second, with the gradual wear of the surface hardening layer, new work hardening layer will continue to form. High manganese steel is suitable for making wear-resistant components with high impact wear for a long time.
High manganese steel has been widely used in metallurgy, mining, building materials, railway, power, coal and other mechanical equipment for a long time. Especially in recent decades, with the rapid development of modern industry and the rapid development of science and technology, high manganese steel has become a wear-resistant material in advanced equipment such as maglev train, safe, rock drilling robot, new tank and so on. Many new materials and modern surface engineering technologies are still unable to compare with high manganese steel in cost performance.
