What are the general requirements for thick steel plate cutting and welding?

Thick steel plate, which is also a kind of steel plate, has many construction contents, such as cutting, welding, etc. Therefore, there are certain requirements for the construction of thick steel plate, which can standardize the construction and avoid problems. So, what are the specific requirements?
1. Cutting requirements
(1) Before the cutting of thick steel plate, the analysis and comparison of cutting process shall be carried out first, and whether the finish of cutting surface can meet the requirements of corresponding welding process. After cutting, the carbon content in the material will not increase.
(2) Before cutting, it is necessary to preheat according to the process requirements, and control the cutting speed in the cutting process to ensure the cutting quality.

2. Welding requirements
(1) Through the analysis and comparison, we can check whether the selected welding process is suitable and the quality of the weld.
(2) If butt weld is adopted for thick steel plate, before welding, the crack and the edge of the crack shall be inspected thoroughly for the material within a certain range, and if there is any defect inside, it shall be dealt with in time.
(3) Before welding, preheating shall be carried out according to the welding process and temperature measuring points shall be set.
(4) The number and thickness of weld layers, as well as the temperature between weld layers, should be well controlled. After each welding, corresponding heat preservation treatment shall be carried out.
(5) After the completion of welding, and after 24 hours, then ultrasonic nondestructive testing can be carried out, but the ambient temperature should be up to standard.
