Simply distinguishing from the appearance whether it is hot rolled seamless steel pipe or cold drawn seamless steel pipe, we need to distinguish from the following steps:
1. Length: The length of cold drawn seamless steel pipe is generally shorter than that of hot rolled seamless steel pipe. The cold drawn seamless steel pipe can be up to 9 meters in length, while the hot rolled seamless steel pipe can reach more than 12.5 meters, and the length of the hot-expanded steel pipe is longer.
2. In terms of wall thickness: cold drawn seamless steel pipes are more uniform than hot rolled seamless steel pipes. The wall deviation of cold drawn seamless steel pipe is not non-existent but very small. For example, the maximum wall deviation of 3mm wall thickness is 0.3mm, while the minimum wall deviation of hot rolled seamless steel pipe reaches 0.3mm. Generally, the partial wall range of hot rolled seamless steel pipes is 10%. That is, the wall thickness of 10mm can be partial to positive and negative 1mm (9mm-11mm).
3. Appearance: The cold drawn seamless steel pipe is very beautiful after annealing, but the hot rolled seamless steel pipe is not so dominant compared to the cold drawn seamless steel pipe, and the appearance is dull.
4. Price: The price of cold drawn seamless steel pipe is generally more expensive than hot rolled seamless steel pipe. The cold drawn seamless steel pipes are cumbersome to process, and hot rolled seamless steel pipes are simple to process.
